Fifers is, as always, amazing. We've been coming for years and they keep getting better.
A few highlights from this year's trip:
If they only made crab cakes and sold beer we wouldn't need to shop anywhere else.
I don't know how these people stay in business . Cold brewed coffee tasted rancid. Prices are really expensive. We got some corn there this summer and it was hands down the worst corn we had all season, we threw it out. You can get much better local corn at the Giant. Twice we tried sandwiches and both times they were twice we tried sandwiches and both times they were terrible with one little slice of meat on it and a wilted piece of lettuce. Do yourself a favor, and just get in the car and drive a mile to the Farmers Market on Tuesdays, or just to the local grocery stores.
- cantaloupe that you can smell from rt 1.
- sweet corn picked that morning
- the tastiest cherry tomatoes and big red tomatoes for cheap. Perfect sandwich tomatoes.
- cold brew on tap. Free samples. I mean, this is worth a stop by itself.
- great local dill pickles.
but seriously make some crab cakes. Oh, and a better breD selection would be nice. Like some good fresh baguettes or rye or sourdough.
- perfectly ripe peaches the size of softballs. Their OWN peaches, like from the fifer orchard.
We live in San Francisco now and have pretty high standards when it comes to good fresh produce. fifers knocks it out of the park.
The best fresh seasonal items you can find at the Delaware Beaches. Their breakfast sandwiches are hot homemade and delicious... The best pies from scratch, homemade donuts and fresh squeezed OJ, fresh salads and produce available. They carry local dairy eggs and homemade breads...A true gold-mine for Dewey Beach
Everyone here is very friendly and I've never seen a bad temper among them. Their produce is as fresh as you can get and the baked good are delicious. There is also a nice sandwich /lunch counter area with food made to order. I recommend trying the apple cider donuts and Whoopi pies as a special treat.
Lousy sandwiches, overpriced and the tomato slices are so thin you can see through them. Produce is hitting or miss quality. Everything is pricey, expect to pay through the nose for shopping convenience. Closed on Sunday, which is really stupid as they are missing 50% of the beach weekend business. Don't know how they stay in biz... Oh wait, yeah, one timers that come all summer.
